China Southern Airlines has announced that they will open a direct flight route from Guangzhou to Brisbane in November.
The expansion comes as China’s largest airline firm by fleet size looks to further explore the Australian aviation market, NewsyStocks.com reported.
China Southern will also add flights on routes to Sydney and Melbourne.
The new flight route will facilitate a popular and burgeoning market for Australian tourism from China.
In the first five months of 2010, Australia received 204,000 Chinese tourists, up 10 per cent year-on-year from 2009. As at the end of 2009, China was Australia’s fourth largest source of tourists, the report said.
China Southern aims to develop Guangzhou as a transfer hub from China to Oceania for Chinese travellers, as part of development to its international network route.
